A Wonderful Weekend!

Lulu, Wendy, Ashley and I are back from a great weekend at our local Pet Expo! It was a wonderful time and we had a lot of fun seeing some clients and meeting some new ones!

Thank you to Beagle Paws for another great year.

Thank you to Nicole Squires for letting us bring Henri the Olde English Sheepdog to the show.

Thank you to Pandora and Brenda who let me have the pleasure of grooming their Poodles for the show and letting them sport their feather fur extensions.

Special thank you to Faith Warren of the 'Dog House' for giving me free rein to do whatever I desired with her 'perfect' Poodle "Ella"! She looked beautiful and I had so much fun!

A special shout out to my new little friend 'Tinny' who I fell in love with! Can't wait to see you soon Tinny!

Thanks for all who attended and supported Beagle Paws, a charity near and dear to my heart!

Can't wait till next year! What will Doggie Stylz come up with I wonder ???

My Lulu

I would like to dedicate this entry to my Lulu, she is my 'soul' dog and means the world to me.

Lulu is the most patient, happy, people loving, dog loving, cat loving, most beautiful Standard Poodle EVER! (I may be bias) This is the way she walked off the plane 3 years ago, when my life was forever changed by the love of a Poodle. For those of you who do not have the pleasure to have a Standard Poodle of your own, I will tell you I have owned many breeds and loved everyone of them but there is something so intuitive, so human like about the way a Standard Poodle looks at you that touches your soul.

Lulu and I had a grooming routine that started from day one. I taught her to lie on her side while I blow dried her hair and in no time she was peacefully snoozing on the table while I brushed and dried her fur. I cannot tell you how bonding her grooming time is for us. It has developed a very strong relationship between us and she respects me and loves our time together. I can whole heartedly tell you she enjoys and even looks forward to the 'Mommy and me time' she receives during our grooming sessions.

I started trying various creative grooming techniques with Lulu. Researching all products making sure they were safe to use on dogs. We started putting little splashes of colour in her hair and have fun with it. Lets face it, she does not know her ears are pink, she knows "WOW! I am getting even more people petting me and talking to me then usual!"

Every product I use is non-toxic, ammonia free and free of any harmful chemicals! Some of the products need to set to get colour, some do not. When it needs to be set I usually put it on (which takes a couple of minutes) , wrap it in some plastic and then do her nails, ears, feet and face (things I would have to do anyway) and by that time it is ready and then the dye just washes out while she is in the tub. Other colour, like the one I used for the NL Pet Expo, takes literally 10 minutes from start to finish and washes out in one or two washes.

Colour on their dog is obviously not for everyone, nor are the creative and funky cuts I choose to have Lulu in... BUT it is in no way effecting her health, safety or well being. I do not expect everyone to like it or want it on their dog and everyone is entitled to their opinion... BUT please have a reason for the opinion you have or else there is just no point of having one in the first place.

I am not cruel for having creative fun with my dog, I am not abusing or harming her. She loves to lie on the bed, ride in the car, come to work with Mom, run in the woods, run in the mud, wade in the pond... she means the world to me.

So please before you open your mouth to make a rude comment or judgement why not ask to be educated about it first.
